What is VETMEDIN :
VETMEDIN is a chewable tablets containing 1.25 or 5 mg of pimobendan per tablet. Pimobendan, have vasodilatative properties and facilitate the dog's heart to pump the blood.
What I need to know about VETMEDIN CHEWABLE TABLETS:
Is a Chewable Tablet indicated for mild, moderate, or severe congestive heart failure in dogs due to atrioventricular valvular insufficiency. Is available in 1.25mg and 5mg scored beige to tan Chewable tablet. VETMEDIN , like other drugs of its class, is not free from adverse reactions. You should be advised of the potential for adverse reactions and be informed of the clinical signs associated with VETMEDIN intolerance.
What I need to tell and ask my veterinarian if VETMEDIN is prescribe to my dog:
If your veterinarian prescribe VETMEDIN to your dog, comment with your vet if your dog is younger than 6 months of age, have congenital heart defects, diabetes mellitus, any metabolic diseases, if is breeding, or pregnant or lactating bitches. Advice your Veterinarian if during treatment your dog have symptoms of poor appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, dyspnea, azotemia, weakness and ataxia, pleural effusion, syncope, cough, ascites, and heart murmur.
Indications for this drug:
Follow strictly the indications as your veterinarian gives on your prescription. VETMEDIN is indicated for the management of the signs of mild, moderate, or severe congestive heart failure in dogs due to atrioventricular valvular insufficiency or dilated cardiomyopathy. The recommended dosage of Vetmedin is 0.23 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg) of your dog body weight,
What I should do if 1 dose is skipped:
Continue with the following dose, do not give two doses at once.
What I should do if my pet suffer an overdose:
Call or Visit your nearest veterinary emergency center immediately.
During the trealtment:
Call your veterinarian about any other medication you may want to give to your dog. Keep your dog hydrated, Store VETMEDIN at room temperature, between 59°-86° F (15°-30° C).
Side Effects of VETMEDIN:
Your dog may experience poor appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, dyspnea, azotemia, weakness and ataxia, pleural effusion, syncope, cough, ascites, and heart murmur.
