Methazolamide is used to treat glaucoma patients.
Glaucoma is described as a group of ocular disorders that cause intraocular pressure. Left crude, glaucoma can cause permanent damage to the nerve of optic region and result in a visual field loss, progressing into blindness. Symptoms include; abrupt ocular pain, impaired vision, red eyes, substantially high intraocular pressure (>30 mmHg), nausea and vomiting, as well as mid-dilated pupil. Although incurable, glaucoma can be managed using pharmaceutical and/or surgical techniques.
