WHAT THIS PRODUCT CURES
FortiFlora Canine is prescribed to dogs with diarrhea management needs.

PET SYMPTOMS
Diarrhea is characterized by an overly loose stool followed by a constant defecation. Diarrhea can occur due to a number of reasons such as intestinal parasites, complications within the digestive tract, diet change, viruses, and most commonly for pets; due to the food they place into their bodies. Diarrhea may not be a lasting condition but can be dangerous due to the amount of water being forced from the body.
Diarrhea commonly appears very loose and almost water like formation. Dependant on the underlying cause the diarrhea may be brown, green, frothy, yellow, or streaked with mucus and blood. The pet may pace the house and desire the need to go outside several times in one day. The pet may also have the inability to control its bowels as the intestinal chamber spasms.
Aside from medical conditions causing diarrhea the pet’s diet is a leading contributor to stool consistency. An owner which switches food brands, food amounts, or texture can cause the intestinal tract of the pet to over react and produce diarrhea.  A pet which engages in eating inappropriate substances such as table scraps, trash, or deceased animals can cause severe diarrhea and even vomiting.
Internal parasites are highly known to cause stool changes in pets. Whipworms, roundworms, tapeworms, and hookworms are all parasites which can live within the intestinal tract of cats and dogs leading to diarrhea. The digestive tract itself can lead to diarrhea as the balance of healthy bacteria which aid in digestion is imbalanced. Other conditions of the intestine can also cause diarrhea such as inflammatory bowel disease or tumors present on the intestinal wall. Viruses, such as the parvovirus, can be contracted from pet to pet causing the diarrhea to become mucus and blood streaked.

QUESTIONS FOR MY VET

1. What steps should I take if my pet has adverse effects from product?
Discontinue use of the product and contact you veterinarian.

2. What is the basic protocol for diarrhea when I am with my dog?
A pet which has diarrhea should be prevented from eating for the next twelve hours but water should always be present. A small amount of food may be given such as fish or chicken after twelve hours. If diarrhea continues after a day, veterinary attention must be sought.
3. What can I do to help prevent my dog’s diarrhea?
Pet owners should take precautions against all possible diarrhea contributors such as follow up on appropriate vaccinations, de-worming regiments, and prohibiting the pet from eating inappropriate substances.
4. Switching brand name kibble gives my dog diarrhea, what should I do?
Try mixing the two products together, a little at a time, with different ratios. This step will give your dog’s digestive tract time to make the switch.
