Ecto-Soothe 3X is a soothing insecticidal shampoo for dogs and cats older than 2 weeks.
WHAT THIS PRODUCT CURES
Ecto-Soothe 3X shampoo contains pyrethrins, potent insecticide that effectively kills fleas (Ctenocephalides felis), lice (Ctenocephalides felis, Linognathus setosus, Felicola subrostrata) and ticks (Dermacentor variabilis). Oatmeal and glycerin from the shampoo moisturize and soothe the animal’s irritated skin after flea and tick bites.
Lice (Trichodectes canis and Linognathus setosus in dogs, and Felicola subrostrata in cats) are small parasitic insects living on the skin of affected dogs and cats. They are species specific and cannot be transferred from one animal species to another. It also means that humans cannot get lice from animals. Lice feed by chewing on the skin or by sucking blood. Lice or their eggs are easily seen attached to the individual hairs as small white dots. The affected areas of the skin – usually around the neck, ears, shoulders, rectal area and groin - are extremely irritated and itchy. The animals are scratching and biting to relieve the irritation. The coat is often dry and scruffy. Hair loss is often seen in the affected areas. Severe infestations can lead to anemia in young animals.
Fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) are non-flying parasitic insects feeding on blood of animals and humans. Within one, day after their first meal on a new host, fleas lay large number of eggs (40 to 50 per day). Over the short period of two to three weeks, eggs complete their life cycle through four stages, developing into adults. They are visible by the naked eye, but very small and difficult to detect. Fleas are biting and chewing through the animal’s skin and causing discomfort. Animals are scratching and biting the affected areas of the skin, causing the visible irritation with redness, swelling and crusts.
Ticks (Dermacentor variabilis) are parasitic arachnids feeding on blood of animals and humans. Their life cycle consists of four stages; adults attach themselves on the skin of the dog and suck blood. They are usually visible on the skin, especially when they grow in size as they feed. Ticks mostly cause mild local irritation on the skin surrounding the attachment area. They are especially significant as transmitters of various blood borne diseases.
Lice can cause severe skin irritation and infection. In young animals lice can cause anemia.
Flea bites can often lead to severe skin infections and allergic reactions. Fleas can cause anemia in young animals. They often transmit tapeworms.
Tick bites can cause allergic reactions and anemia, but their significance lies in the ability to transmit numerous viral, bacterial and parasitic diseases, such as babesiosis, Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis and many more.
